Tesco Payqwiq becomes Pay Tesco is changing the name of its digital wallet app from PayQwiq to Pay+.

Tesco has rebranded its PayQwiq digital wallet, which today will become Tesco Pay+.

Launched in 2015, PayQwiq allowed customers to pay for their shopping and collect Clubcard points by scanning a barcode at the point of sale. The app was able to hold multiple payment cards and could pay for shopping up to the value of £250. After localised trials, the app was rolled out to the entire UK at the beginning of 2017.

The retailer said it would be releasing details on any further changes to the app in the coming weeks.

“The journey of our digital wallet has been an exciting one and we’ve learned a great deal about our customers and how they shop in that time,” said Mark Loch, Tesco digital wallets and group payments strategy director.

“We believe that Tesco Pay+ is going to help the customer journey, offering greater little helps, and we’re looking forward to revealing more in a few weeks’ time.”
