Australian customers will be able to use Ribble's online customisation tool to build their own bike Ribble Cycles announces international eCommerce expansion into Australia.

Ribble Cycles is launching an international eCommerce site which will enable Australian cycling enthusiasts to order bespoke bikes from the Preston-based retailer.

Shoppers in Australia will be eligible for free shipping for orders over $149 AUD and will be able to contact Ribble via a local contact point in the country.

“We've had fantastic domestic growth here in the UK. Now, it's time to make Ribble Cycles a global brand," said Matthew Lawson, CDO at Ribble Cycles. "Australia was an obvious choice for our first venture overseas, with its established cycling culture and market growth thanks to improvements in city cycling infrastructure. We look forward to bringing our range, value and quality to the Australian consumer."

Earlier this year, the retailer appointed Lawson to head of digital, and also Jon Owen as CEO. The company was founded in Lancashire in 1897 and is owned by the private equity firm, True Capital. Last financial year Ribble reported turnover of £16.8 million.

Specialising in carbon road bikes which are customisable and designed in-house, the retailer also supplies high-performance bicycle parts from brands, including Shimano, Campagnolo, Castelli, Bont, Giro and Mavic.

Its website was redesigned earlier this year by Vortex on Magento to a responsive site, as well as offering shoppers an online bike building tool to custom their own designs.
